The 2025 summer SHARE will be held in the Hilton Cleveland Downtown, Ohio, between August 17th and 21st. This is a four-day conference, with the last day (Thursday) being a full day. If you are attending, check out the Technical Agenda and download the SHARE app for your mobile device.
There are many instances of scheduling clashes between sessions that I really want to attend. If you are attending with colleagues, I highly recommend that you sit down together in advance and agree on who will attend which session, so you cover as many presentations as possible.
I am presenting or involved with five sessions myself:
- Mainframe Ransomware Attack That Worked
- What’s the Story Storage Glory!
- Top Gun Best Practices, which is a panel session
- Bit Bucket, co-presenting with several others
- zRoadshow, a lookback at the week at SHARE
On the list of sessions I would love to attend or would highly recommend for Monday, Aug 17:
- 09:15:
- An In-depth Look at the IBM Z: Core Architecture, New Features and Peripherals (Part 1)
- z/OS Communications Server Technical Update: Summer 2025 Edition
- z/OS Systems Programming & Hardware kick off session including How the new IBM z17 will fundamentally transform your business
- 10:30:

- CICS Technical Introduction for Non-CICS People
- IBM z AI Strategy and future directions
- Step-by-Step With z/OS Container Platform: A Beginner-Friendly Demo with Podman and Kubernetes

- 13:15:
- Get z/OS Up and Running on zHW
- Getting Started with Python on z/OS
- New HCD support for IBM z17
- TCP/IP Security Controls
- 14:30:
- BYOD: Configuring a System Using a YAML Model

And that’s just for the first day! I’ll be back with some suggestions for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – and remember that Thursday is a nearly-full day, with sessions running until 16:00.
If you are going to be at SHARE, please say Hi if you see me or the Planet Mainframe team. We hope you have safe travels and an enjoyable conference.
